lost but now found!
so i bought this sucker back in high school because i was in a independent photography class. we had a nice little darkroom at our school, which helped me decide to buy this camera. well that was high school and some time has since passed, so i went back to my childhood home and dug around for a while and finally found what i was looking for. my good ol' nikon fm10. just so you know, fm means fully manual. fun stuff!
there will be some posted pictures to come!

this was from july 20 so sorry its a bit late. anyway my girlfriend and i both bought each other tickets for this first annual music festival in denver for our birthdays. it was amazing! we were able to listen to brett dennen, one republic, colbie caillat, flogging molly, leftover salmon, samantha farrell, john mayer, and the dave matthews band! there were many many more bands and not nearly enough time to see them all.

confined
so, i want to share a stop motion video that is playing on the disciplinary action taken when me and some friends broke curfew. long story shot we were out an hour and a half past curfew having coffee somewhere around nyu and because we returned late we were all grounded. joelle and i were grounded until wednesday and my friend josh was grounded grounded for the rest of the trip. lol. so we were confined to our living space and the studio only, pretty lame but because of it we were able to have constructive "time out" and out of it josh nix created a stop motion video showing you what we were confined to. its pretty funny and fun to watch. lol this whole situation is pretty funny because we are 22 years old, and grounded!
p.s. i helped take some pics too.

mustaches and trees
so the mustaches are becoming greater as the project progresses and i just wanted to let you know what that looks like. (notice- christian my other mustached friend is missing)
this is a tree that i illustrated for josh nix, originally intended to be a part of his individual installation, but instead it became random wall art in the studio.
thats all

a day in the park
so this account actually took place on thursday so sorry for being delayed. anyway we were supposed to go out into the city and engage with people about our individual projects and more specifically, our collaborative project. i didnt want to do that at all. i just wanted to chill. i was physically and emotionally exhausted from prior evangelism and working late nights. so i was in a really bad mood and just wanted to zone out and relax. this whole project is go go go, always moving and hardly resting, so that on top of being in an insanely crazy and different city causes alot of stress. anyway i was able to move past that moment of selfishness and see the beauty in the city. the picture is from Bryant Park- for those of you who dont know this park, it's the one where the fountain from the FRIENDS opening scene is located. random fact: the park is totally wireless! anyway hope this picture makes you realize how beautiful this city is. just to let you know what our collaborative project is up to ill add a picture from that. p.s. its the second pic
So this is a look into our collaborative project. to give you a brief explanation we again are working with the theme of re-humanization and we aimed to ask random people questions pertaining to humanity and emotion in an attempt to let them know that people actually care about them and want to see past their projected images and really get to know them. anyway, that was a bit rough, but anyway, what we did was then photograph them after the dialogue, and then i took their answers and typographically arranged them behind their portrait. we printed their photos on transparencies then laid them over the type. It looks pretty cool when actually all framed up but i dont have a photo for that because we aren't completely done, but i do have an illustrator file. and that is the picture below. the reason the photo is overexposed around the actual head is so that once printed and placed over the type it would be readable. anyway hope you like it.

Nasty food
One project we have these groups called d groups and to anyone outside of campus crusade that means discipleship, and we usually do growth development and stuff like that but one this particular night we wanted to just chill. So we set up a projector so we could watch youtube videos on the wall and we ordered some Chinese food to go along with that. Curtis called the order in and said give us your four best dishes, bad idea, but anyway we got our food and we were all scared once we saw what we actually had. It was horrible and hopefully the pictures explain how nasty this food was. It was so bad that we didnt eat it, so Curtis had the bright idea to have a competition with it. Each person was able to pick two pieces for someone else to eat. I was so close to puking when i ate my second piece. it brought tears to my eyes! anyway enjoy the pics.

i am finally done with my first project and it feels great to actually have a functional piece of furniture! furniture is something i have recently found great interest in. i could almost say that i have passionate feelings towards it. yes that may be weird but i really enjoy it.
so the theme on our project is re-humanization and the way i was able to incorporate that into this bench is through the theme of value. value is something that really makes me feel human, and value is reached through dialogue and relationships. those deeper conversations are generally taken place while seated-hence the bench for two. and when you first start in that conversation it feels really rough around the edges(see first picture). it feels really unfinished and unrefined, but once you move get past that you progress into a more refined conversation where it starts to flow. from that middle stage it eventually becomes really refined and you eventually reach a point where it feels finished(see second photo). and once it feels finished you have reached value! the bench is a representation of that in terms of the layered wood and the contrast from the unfinished and the finished. the layered wood also represents two different people in that actual dialogue. hope you enjoy it and yes it does support two people! it is really sturdy actually and all in all the process of creating this was great. fyi-it was all cut with a circular saw and the only bonding agent is glue. it is also my first piece of furniture ever.

the refined and finished dialogue where value has been reached
